Tri-Partite Coalition

July 6, 2009

Saturday’s Western Mail reported that a grand coalition of centre left parties may be a possibility when Rhodri Morgan steps down as First Minister. One Labour strategist is quoted as saying that the addition of the Lib Dems to the existing Labour-Plaid arrangement would isolate the Tories as a small opposition group in the Assembly.

On the contrary, if this were to come about, it would give the Welsh Conservatives an unprecedented opportunity to expose the weaknesses of the other parties and show the Welsh public that they are the only alternative government to the other parties which are only too happy to prop up Labour.
